I'm (1998 - Present) a current student at Everett Community College. I was born in Everett, Washington and I graduated from Everett High School. I am currently on my 2nd quarter here at EVCC and I have no plans yet as to what major or degree I would be interested in focusing on, but I do plan on transferring over to Western Washington University eventually. My hobbies are watching anime, reading manga, playing video games, and reading/writing stories. When I was younger though, I used to play several different sports such as basketball, baseball, and soccer, but I eventually decided to give them up. My favorite book/novel would be a tie between Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari and Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru.

Article Review

edit

I visited the The Rising of the Shield Hero page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the citations, the incomplete sections, and the structure of the page.

Citations

edit

The page has quite a few citations at the bottom of the page, about 15 in total, but after looking at them it turns out that 11 of the links all rely on the same source. All of the links uses 4 different sources but one of the sources do not work and the of the other sources, including the source that is used 11 times, is typed out entirely in Japanese so only those who understand Japanese may be able to read them.

Incomplete Sections

edit

A majority of the sections on this page were were fairly strong and had a sufficient amount of information, but there were a few sections, some of which I would think would be very important sections, that had very little details and effort put into them. The Characters section on the page had was very well done and contained quite a large amount of detail, but the Plot and especially the Manga and Reception sections could use some more work. The plot section quickly goes through the very beginning of the novel with very little detail, the Manga section only states which chapter it is up to currently and no more, and the Reception section had no information at all.

Structure

edit

The structure of the page could use some editing as there seems to be almost no form of planning used on this page to work on the style or format. There is a chart near the bottom of the page and a section at the top right of the page that gives the details of the novel such as who it was written by and the date, but other than those two there were no use of formatting or styling of any sort. The sections were simply written down one after another with no other visual styling or information.

Summary

edit

Overall, I wouldn't say that this page was "bad" as it does cover a large amount of detail about the novel, but although the work put into the page seems rather good there are some areas of the page that could be worked on, most of which would only be unnecessary but helpful. The citations used in the page would have to be my biggest concern as almost all of the sources are unusable to people because they are broken or are only typed in Japanese and not everyone can read Japanese. Some of the sections in the page are rather small compared to the other sections and are more likely to be skipped over despite the fact that some of them would seem to very important to those trying to learn about the novel, such as the Plot section. Also, despite being not completely necessary, the structure of the information in the page could use some tidying up to make the page appear more efficient or well put together.
