The Brazilian Academy of Philosophy (Academia Brasileira de Filosofia) was created in 1989 by Brazilian thinkers such as Emmanuel Carneiro Leão, José Guilherme Merquior, and Miguel Reale, among others, with the intent of preserving the memory and culture of Brazilian philosophy. Its current members include members of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Its current president is João Ricardo Moderno.
