User:J Milburn/Philosophy contributions

In the real world, I am a professional philosopher. This is a list of my contributions to Wikipedia which fall broadly under the banner of philosophy. Its primary audience is other philosophers who may be interested in the kind of contributions I have made to the project. In philosophy, as in many academic disciplines, Wikipedia is often regarded with suspicion. Sometimes this suspicion is justified; sometimes not. Hopefully, in time, Wikipedia's merits can be recognised by the philosophical community as a whole.

Like everything on Wikipedia, this page is in an ongoing state of construction.

Articles written edit

The following articles are primarily authored by me. Though on Wikipedia no one "owns" an article, many are de facto written/maintained by a single editor or small group of editors. Icons represent certain on-Wikipedia accolades;   shows that a fact from the article appeared on the main page,   shows that the article has been recognised as a "good article", while   denotes a "featured article", Wikipedia's highest accolade.

I established the 2016 Women in Philosophy Drive, an editing drive to encourage better coverage of women in philosophy on Wikipedia. I also helped with the organization and administration of the Kevin Gorman Memorial Edit-a-thon, a drive to improve coverage of philosophers who are members of underrepresented groups. Further events of this sort will hopefully take place in the future. If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to contact me.

Animal studies edit

Some of my other contributions, while not in philosophy, fall under the banner of animal studies.
