Robyn Von Swank is a Canadian photographer in Los Angeles.

Biography

She grew up in Victoria, British Columbia and moved to Los Angeles in 2006.[1] In Hollywood, Robyn frequented the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and began her career by photographing many of the comedians performing there. The acclaim of her work at the UCB Theater led her to specialize in photographing promotional materials for film, television, music, magazines, and books.

Von Swank is best known for her diegetic portraiture, in which she poses her subject within a detailed set creating a fictional scene, as if it were a still from a lost movie.

Von Swank is an enthusiast of weird, dark, lowbrow, American culture, and is a collector of antique objects. She is also a fan of early photography, such as daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes.
