My name is Shawn Hickman.
A little about me I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA in an average sized blue collar town called New Brighton. New Brighton, lies across the river from better known; Beaver Falls, PA, and was a great place to learn what you are expected to be. Fortunately for me, I wasn't content with the path that others assumed I should travel, and decided after years of trying to concede (primarily for my dear mothers sake and sanity) that I simply needed to move.
I took a leap of faith and moved 600+ miles to Wilmington NC. Wilmington is where I really grew as an individual. I contribute it to the distance of separation from home and complacency.
Six years later I found myself again moving this time back north to my former home state of PA, but this time I crossed the expanse and wound up nesting in the city of brotherly love. This is where I currently reside. I currently work for Mancino Manufacturing as the Digital Media Director.
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and have worked in various different mediums. Digital design is how I primarily make my mark these days but I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work with various multimedia across numerous platforms. Currently I am working on several sites including my blog and freelance portfolio site.
So what's next? I'm constantly learning and studying new and engaging techniques for design. Some of the skills I'm working on this year (2010) are to better learn php & mysql, 3dsmax, acrylic painting, and acting.
Editing pages I'm fairly new to editing wikipedia articles, but am learning as fast as my free time allows me. These are a few of my areas of editing interest;
Technology: Especially when it comes to design and social marketing. Art: I am a fan of many different media forms, from graffiti and street art, to multimedia mixed with sound. Sports: Like I mentioned I am from the home of the world champion Pittsburgh Steelers. I also enjoy extreme sports of all kinds and pretty much coming up with my own dumb games to play. Music: I have been a guitar player since I was 17, and have been singing in groups since I can remember.
I am currently in the process of updating pages that are with in my scope of work these days, primarily gymnastics safety equipment, and wall padding. I am surrounded by people that know so much about this field that the information seems limitless. I also have an abundance of pictures which I am uploading to the commons as often as I can.
I will try to update this user page as a form of self documentation as often as I can.
