Kavita Kapoor (British English: /kəˈvtə kəˈpʊr/; Hindi: कविता कपूर, Hindi pronunciation: ['kəʋit̪ɑː kə'puːr]) is a British technologist, martial artist and film-maker.

Education

Kapoor completed a bachelor's degree in business information technology at Kingston University, followed by a master's degree by research in internet technology at the University of Greenwich.[1] She also obtained a postgraduate degree in media management from New York University in 2003.

Career

Kapoor started her career as a lead developer for International Computers Limited (later acquired by Fujitsu), acting as a consultant on projects for Sega, Virgin Cosmetics, and the BBC.[2]

Having worked closely with the London-based creative agency Iris during the London 2012 Olympics, she became the regional director of digital operations for Iris in New Delhi.[3]

In 2017, Kapoor became the chief operating officer for the not-for-profit micro:bit Educational Foundation.[2] In this role she organized campaigns to encourage uptake of the Micro Bit in schools.[4][5] During her tenure the micro:bit Educational Foundation was the European regional winner of the MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge's Skills Development & Opportunity Matching award.[6]

In 2019 she established a new Shorinji Kempo club for the LGBTQ community in and around Camden.[7] She is now a lead instructor at the Camden branch and an accredited examiner for the British Shorinji Kempo Federation.[8]
