The Type 1938Ac destroyers were to be 138 metres (453 ft) long at waterline, and 144.5 metres (474 ft) long overall. They were to have a breadth of 13.9 metres (46 ft), and a depth of 7.6 metres (25 ft). They were to have a draught of 4.35 metres (14.3 ft) at design load. They were to displace 3,914 tonnes (3,852 long tons; 4,314 short tons) at standard load, and 4,902 tonnes (4,825 long tons; 5,404 short tons) at full load.[1] They were to have a complement of 13 officers and 335 crewmembers.[2]

They were to be armed with six 15-centimetre (5.9 in) guns, with 720 rounds of ammunition, and a range of 23.5 kilometres (14.6 mi); two 8.8-centimetre (3.5 in) anti-aircraft guns, with 8,000 rounds of ammunition; eight 2-centimetre (0.8 in) anti-aircraft guns, with 24,000 rounds of ammunition; two quintuple 53.3-centimetre (21.0 in) torpedo tubes; and 100 mines.[1]
