Happy-Go-Luckies of Nature and Technology, is a public artwork by German artist Guido Brinks, located on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which is near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The sculpture is a steel structure that is painted red. The sculpture was dedicated to UWM's Lapham Hall on October 23, 1992.

Description

Stabile with three prongs (legs) which meet at the center and branch off into four symbolic heads extended on outreaching arms. A three bladed propeller of polished stainless steel is in the center and is kinetic. Abstracted humanoid forms have geometric cut shapes around perimeter and geometric-shaped negative spaces. Head forms have three disks and one arrow mounted on stainless steel rods. Sculpture is red, smooth and highly polished.

Artist

The artist, Guido Brink, studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Dusseldorf under the Neo-Impressionist painter Maximillian Clarenbach. In 1952, Brink moved from his native Germany to New York, and eventually settled in Milwaukee, where he continued his work and taught at the Layton School of the Arts. [1]
