Early Life
editTan was Born in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia on July 25, 1970. He is the fourth child out of 7 siblings in the family. His father is a bus driver with not much earnings while his mother was only able to do some odd jobs to support the family.
Due to his family condition, Tan was often disregarded by neighbors and mocked by his friends. He vows not to be an ordinary person and never accept defeat. He has a strong conviction that he owns his own destiny and pledged to make a change for the betterment of his family. Tan worked as a part timer since he was young for various jobs to support his family.
Although his life is not as easy as compared to others, Tan never gave up and studied very hard to score every single subject. He understands that education is the only way that could turn his life around. With his determination, he is elected as the role model student of the year.
University life was a turning point for Tan, he became the first Bachelor Degree holder in his hometown. Hectic university life with studies and various of co-curriculum activities train him a better person. During the third year of his study, Tan has already started to plan for his future. He initially planned to either start a business or climb the corporate ladder. After much consideration, he decided to pursue a career in the insurance industry with no basic salary but higher return of commissions and bonuses.

editGreat Ideals Varsity Contribution and Youth Liaison Project
editThe establishment of the Great Ideal Varsity Contribution & Youth Liaison Department enables the youth to be actively strive for positive lifestyle, in order to implant correct attitudes to the youth, Tan planned to organize a series of training courses for the university undergraduates coaching them skills and techniques that are essential in their life. Training courses provided are as below:

“Because of Love” Community Service
editAfter he joined University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1991, he joined “Because of Love” community service society organized by Penang Chinese Association. He joined as an ordinary member but later on went to become the adviser. The objective of this program is to share and advocate the important of education.
Royalty Donation to Li Hwa Primary and Great Eastern Children Care Project
editTan donated the first edition of his book “Be MVP of Life Insurance” loyalty to Li Hwa Primary School and Great Eastern Children Care Project.
Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress Charity Program “Hope of Pearl”
editThe Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress Charity is spreading the “Hope of Pearl” project. The “Pearl” is referring to the children who live in poor condition but have great potential in their study and learning. In order to help the Pearl continue to grow, Tan and his business partners sponsored 15 Pearls in China and provide the funding required for schooling fee.
Sin Chew Daily Adoption Project
editGreat Ideals Group has participated in Sin Chew Daily Children Adoption Project, sponsoring Malaysian students. The project aimed to provide orphans and poor students daily living expenses and educational funding to help them to complete basic educational level. Through the campaign, Great Ideals Group is helping the children to live on their learning spirits and hopefully one day they will excel out into the world.
Little Yellow Flower Education Foundation
editLittle Yellow Flower Education Foundation is formed by four renowned artistes: Charlie Yeung, Angelica Lee, Valen Hsu and Gigi Leung they wish to help underprivileged children who live in less fortunate environment by giving them moral support and help them to build towards a better life through proper education. Since year 2015, Great Ideals Group takes the initiative to raise fund for Little Yellow Flower to break the chain of poverty and change the destiny of the children, to have a better life.
