Verna Josephine Dozier (October 9, 1917 – September 1, 2006) was a high school English teacher, Christian educator, and lay theologian affiliated with the Episcopal Church.
Biography
editDozier was born on October 9, 1917 to Lonna Dozier and Lucie E. Carter in Foggy Bottom, Washington D.C. She was the oldest of two daughters; her younger sister Lois was born on May 1, 1919.[1] Although both her parents were raised as Baptists, her father became an agnostic while her mother remained a devout Baptist.[1][2]
