Rotarian Dr. Md. Hemayatul Islam Arif

This is Rotarian Dr. Md. Hemayatul Islam, Deputy Chief Veterinarian in the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Rajshahi. He graduated (DVM) from the Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh with a Master of Science in Obstetrics from the University of Rajshahi. During my five years of graduation, Dr. Islam completed a one-year internship in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine discipline in various government, NGO and private institute. He did MS in Obstetrics and Doctors of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the University of Rajshahi. In his Ph.D. research, he was working with the Zoonotic diseases involved in reproductive disorders in the small ruminant. He reported the first time in Bangladesh about Vector born (tick) Zoonotic disease, Q fever in Bangladesh. He attended and presented papers at a national and international conference in India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines. He had 20 years of professional experience in veterinary disease investigation & production and research field. In his research period, he authorized one international Book’ Retained Placenta of Dairy Cows: Retained Placenta of Dairy Cows with Special Reference to Some Prophylactic Trials’. He published 40 full-length articles in the National and International Journal. He has successfully completed a zoonotic disease related project ‘Molecular characterization of Toxoplasmosis in Small ruminants’’ funded by Ministry of Science, information and communication Technology, 2014 solely and two projects from Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF) as a co-investigator. ‘Study of Pigeon Diseases in Northern Bangladesh’ funded and technically supported by KGF successfully completed and continuing the ‘validation of on-farm lamb production systems’. He was a Registered Veterinarian, Bangladesh Veterinary Council (BVC), Life member & General Secretary, Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS), Bangladesh Veterinary Association (BVA), Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB), One Health One World, Bangladesh, Bangladesh Society for Safe Food (BSSF), general member of World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA, World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA). He served as an Editorial member in various scientific Journal Namely SCIRE Journal of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, World Journal of Veterinary Science of Food Science & Technology, Journal of Food Science & Technology and joint editorial secretary of Bangladesh Livestock Journal. He is involved in some voluntary activities. Had the experience to patronize a youth the club, as a general secretary of Bangladesh Livestock Society, SUJHON Rajshahi Metropolitan Secretary and Member of Rotary International & president Elect of Rotary club of Rajshahi Central and President of Bangladesh Biodiversity Conservation Federation (BBCF), Rajshahi. We celebrate various National and International Days including world Rabies day every year as an awareness activity of farmers, school, and college and university students. He feels better to work together, for that did some research with the team and now doing research in a good panel. We were continuing a zoonotic disease awareness project “Control of Rabies through Animal Birth Control (ABC)” in Veterinary Clinic and Artificial Insemination Centre under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, University of Rajshahi. He also visited the country Malaysia, Thailand, Philippine, Singapore, and India.
