In most country in Africa, childern with visual and hearing impaired do not go to school, they stay home where no one is teach them how to read and write or how to uses signlanguage.The ministry of education in Namibia offecers education to all,even for people with diseblity. Eluwa special School is a government school in the northern part of Namibia Ongwediva,Oshana. Eluwa Special School was open in 1973,is the first school in Namibia for the hearing and visually impaired.Its current principal is Mrs Eva Shakujungua, started with 40 learners and 4 teachers.The school has 315 learners, 41 teachers,10 matrons,10 kitchen c learns and 22 institutional workers.The increase in number of students shows that many parents in Namibia understand that a child with hearing or visual impairment can also go to school.[1]

The school have grade 1-10 and it offers vocational and technical training in hairdressing,wood-work,typing and home Eco-nomics to prepare the learners to face the word.Grade 10 learners at Eluwa are performing will in the exam.Most people ask them self this question, where do this students go after their grade 10? the visual impaired, continue their schooling at Gabriel Taapopi Secondary school in Ongwediva.A teacher from Eluwa has been transferred to that school.The school has a clinic with 3 nurses and 1 cleaner.It is free for learners,but members of the community pay for the health services.The learners get employed at sea in Walvis Bay, while others have jobs in firms in Windhoek and supermarket in Oshakati, especially in Shoprite.The learners take part in activities like sports apart from that it won the tree planting competition in 2011 which is organized by Northern Namibia Forestry Committee.This school have change life's of many children, one of the is Nanyeni Paulie Linekela,who become deaf at childwood and started schooling at Eluwa Specail Shool .He is now a Chairperson Association and vice chair of Namibia National Association of the Deaf.He is a role model to my deaf and blind children in Namibia.[2]
