Herman Matthews (born December 28, 1960 in Houston, Texas) is an American drummer and composer, A graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Matthews has works as a touring and session musician most notably for Tower Of Power, Kenny Loggins, and Tom Jones. Herman began playing drums at the age of seven and has been the backbone of world-class pop, rock, jazz, soul, R&B and funk bands for nearly thirty years. At age eleven he played in his uncle's blues organ trio, which laid the groundwork, discipline, and training for working with such artists as George Duke, Bob james, Kirk Whalum, Richard Marx, David Foster, Michael McDonald, Michael Bolton, Patty Austin, The Isley Brothers, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Maha, He released his first CD Home At Last, the title track was featured in an episode of the FOX Television Network Crime / Drama, K-VILLE Starring Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser. Matthews has spent a significant amount of his career as a sideman and continues to work on anything that's thrown his way.
