Welcome to my User Page. The username "hazelsct" comes from the name of my (late) grandmother Hazel Scott, and I have been using it since my freshman year as my on-line persona.
I am:
- A materials engineer, with S.B. and Ph.D. (1992, 1997) from MIT in Materials Engineering (also S.B. in Economics 1992). I spent several years on the MIT Materials Science and Engineering faculty, and founded Opennovation, before co-founding MOxST (renamed March 2013 to INFINIUM) with Steve Derezinski.
- A Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Materials Science and Engineering program, Mechanical Engineering department.
- A Debian GNU/Linux package developer, focusing on packages for scientific computing.
- A postdenominational (but not ecumenical) Christian, and member of the Boston Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- An avid Gospel musician, and former director of the Boston Temple Youth Gospel Choir.
