Ballajura Community College commenced operations in 1995, has grown from an initial enrolment of 650 students to an enrolment for 2008 of 1940 students (years 7 - 12). It is the largest school in Western Australia and possibly Australia as well. It is a school which is innovative in both structure and in operation. The college welcomes the community to contribute as active partners in its educational, sporting, cultural and recreational programs.

The College has received outstanding school reports from respective Directors of Schools and has achieved academic excellence in having a 100% graduation rate of its students for four successive years. The College has been also acknowledged as a top government school by the Minister for Education and the Director General in successive years.

On the 22nd April 2009 the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Kevin Rudd, together with his cabinet, held a Community Cabinet Meeting at Ballajura Community College.

A number of BCC students entertained the 600 plus community participants with song, music and dance. The BCC choir sang the Australian National Anthem which was followed by a "Welcome to Land" by Mr Ted Wilkes.

Dr Steffan Silcox, the principal of BCC, welcomed the Prime Minister and his cabinet. Dr Silcox outlined the success of BCC as both an academic and as a vocational college, and reminded Mr Rudd that this was his second visit to the College, the first being back in 2005 when Mr Rudd was the then shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister spoke to an attentive crowd comprising a strong cross-section of the community after which he invited questions from the floor. At the end of the question session cabinet ministers met with members of the public who had requested specific portfolio based personal discussions.
