Marie Conmee is best known for her career as an actor, particularly in comedic roles[1]. Conmee established herself prominently in the film, theatre, and TV industry.
She is well known for her role in an Academy Award-nominated film for Best Picture[2] called "My Left Foot". Conmee played the role of Sadie Brown[3], the sister of the main character Christy Brown played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Another film Conmee played a memorable role in was the British Academy Award-winning[4] film "Educating Rita" released in 1983. Conmee played the role of a customer in a hairdresser[5]. Other films Marie Conmme famously contributed to were "Murder in Eden" as a Lady at the Gallery[6] and Mrs Darby in the production of "Anne Devlin"[7].
Marie Conmme was known for her contribution to memorable roles in the TV industry. She could be recognized for her part in the American hit series "Remington Steele". Conmee played the character Mrs Armdale[8] in episode 6 of the third season. This was filmed in Ireland and aired on November 13th, 1984. She also took part in a BBC series named Screen Two. Conmme performed in the episode "The Snapper" released in August 1993[9] playing the part of Barrytown neighbor [10].
Marie Conmee could also be recognized for her theatre work. Conmee famously performed as a stage actor in the production of "Fallen Angels" in the Dublin Gate Theatre in the summer of 1975[11]. Another significant role includes her part alongside Maureen Potter in the production of "The Informer"[1]. Other roles performed by Conmee include Mrs. Nugent and Norah Mulqueen[12] in the musical "Maggie May" and Ms Hannafin in the production of "The Irish Play"[13]. This play took place in the Warehouse, London in 1980.
