1. There is no article yet about geriatric psychology. There are ones on gerontology or geriatric psychiatry but no direct article on our topic.

2. https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/international-psychogeriatrics/article/issues-regarding-the-proposed-dsm-5-personality-disorders-in-geriatric-psychology-and-psychiatry/EC11DF9DC3C9DB817918ADE3F52EFCEC http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/(SICI)1097-4679(199901)55:1%3C79::AID-JCLP8%3E3.0.CO;2-7/abstract

I found a couple articles on mood/disorders among geriatrics.

3. One comment/question I guess I have is it might be hard to find a lot of information on geriatric psychology, so what if we decide that we aren't able to find enough information. Another question I have is what should our article specifically focus on? Being a geriatric psychologist or what geriatric psychology is in general?

  • If you can't find enough information, just go back to your original idea and improve the article on geriatric psychiatry. J.R. Council (talk) 13:49, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

1. Because there is not an article for geriatric psychology, as Danielle has previously stated, there are no problems/issues with it. I am very surprised that there isn't an article, however, because of how popular of a psychology subfield it is.

2.This first article is the Handbook of the Clinical Psychology of Aging. It describes physical, psychological, and various other important factors of geriatric psychology.

Woods, B. and Clare, L. (eds) (2008) Front Matter, in Handbook of the Clinical Psychology of Ageing, Second Edition, John Wiley & Sons, Ltd, Chichester, UK. doi: 10.1002/9780470773185.fmatter

The second article I found is the Essentials of Geriatric Psychology. Again, this source includes a lot of important information about this field.

Blazer, D. G., & Steffens, D. C. (2012). Essentials of Geriatric Psychology. American Psychiatry Publishing. Retrieved from https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=LJ6vBAAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PP1&dq=geriatric+psychology+contributors&ots=6OB6Az7XLP&sig=Wp1SxWRiXob4sZGP1Sq0S77NNh0#v=onepage&q&f=false

3. Do you find that it would be more beneficial for us to discuss the relationship between geriatric psychiatry/psychology and link the psychiatry page? Should we be looking at the contributors to geriatric psychology or what specifically it makes up in the psychological world? Hannah M. Ganskop (talk) 03:40, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

  • Good idea to discuss the relationship and put in the link. I would cover both important contributors and the field itself J.R. Council (talk) 13:49, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

1. As already stated by my two group members. There is no page on Geriatric Psychology on Wikipedia. Therefore, there are no problems with a current Geriatric Psychology page.

2. The reference I found is a book called, “The Encyclopedia of Aging: A Comprehensive Resource in Gerontology and Geriatrics. https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=spLuCAAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PR7&dq=geriatric+gerontology&ots=cNj_iAHqBb&sig=KCFcxM6b7SurN87D_b-EPgYVoAM#v=onepage&q=geriatric%20gerontology&f=false The second reference I found was Brocklehurst’s Textbook of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. This is more about the medical care and nursing homes. The most general I could find. https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=DPcUtY0kP7oC&oi=fnd&pg=PT71&dq=geriatric+gerontology&ots=6MMW_OyrYr&sig=6zifzHnWqTJGE4Il1fiYsYhpvpc#v=onepage&q=geriatric%20gerontology&f=false

3. The two questions that I have are: Should we discuss the people who invented Geriatric Psychology with links to their Wikipedia pages and What do we do if there isn’t general information in the library journals/archives. Everything seems so specific.

  • I think I've addressed these questions above. Talk about the people as well as the field. If there's not enough info, go back to improving the geriatric psychiatry article. J.R. Council (talk) 13:49, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
