Hello. Thanks for mediating.

So far, what I see is simple. No single link that I have found (that hasn't been altered in the last week and a half by User:Spacini) states that the official name of the University is "Kansas State University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences." About three years ago I made a small change. The other editor reverted, gave an explanation, and I moved on. However, recently, I was doing some reading about K-State online and found that at some point from 1959-1963 the University name was changed from "Kansas State University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences" to simply "Kansas State University." You'll notice the seal says that along with many other sites. After a quick search, I found many more sources that stated, yes, in fact the name was changed. I changed again...and of course, the other editor reverted. With some more research I found even Kansas State Library pages which stated that the name was changed. Once I alerted the other editor to these sources and to my request for mediation, he quickly had them altered and updated...as well as many more, I imagine, to back up his original claim. If the name hadn't been changed, why all of the page changes by the other editor? Why the coy play on Talk:Kansas State University? Why all of the sources that say it has been changed?

That's all I have for now. Thanks. Flibbert (talk) 22:16, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Also, One thing I must point out: using any source from http://www.lib.k-state.edu/ is, in my mind, considered suspect. The other editor, User:Spacini works for K-State libraries in the archive section, which just so happens is where your first "evidence" is coming from. As already evidenced on Talk:Kansas State University, he has been changing pages associated with the University to back up his opinion. Your link, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, was recently updated 04-Feb 2010. The likelihood of this not being connected to the other recently changed webpages is doubtful. I'm sure if you checked archive.com's Wayback machine (link) and scroll down to 1959, you'll see what the page said before it was altered. Thanks. Flibbert (talk) 22:03, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

I made that note looking at the original page. I am inclined to introduce a short term ban proposal on KSU articles on Spacini by WP:COI. The wiki doesn't need this. Hamtechperson 04:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I have been monitoring this situation since I have been a heavy editor on the Kansas State University page. Because I was invited to contribute here, I wanted to at least respond, but I have no point-of-view on the outcome of this situation. I don't have any knowledge on this topic. Sorry! -Kgwo1972 (talk) 21:27, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
