My name is Emily Park and I am currently studying Media and Communications with International Relations at USYD.
As I am also interesting in learning about behavioral psychology and cultural studies, I was looking at researching the Marley Hypothesis[1][2] for my Wikipedia article.
The Marley Hypothesis
A psychology theory on how certain groups perceive current racial discrimination differently due to a different understanding on racial history. Minority groups have different understandings on the racial paradigm as compared to the dominant race group.
This theory was first published in Psychology Science in 2012, which included a social experiment surrounding European-American and African-American students, each group from a social environment where they are mostly surrounded by their own race. The study works to show a strong correlation between the extent of one's knowledge of racial history, and their perceptions on current society's racism.
This study is closely related to the article 'The effect of self-affirmation on perception of racism[3]' by Glenn Adams[4]
