Codacy (software)

edit

Codacy is an automated code review tool that helps developers save time in code reviews and manage technical debt and that can be used in the cloud or installed on premise. [2][3]

Codacy breaks down the code quality on demand into different categories, including complexity, code style and performance. The service also lets users set goals related to each category and managers can see how each developer is performing.[4]

"Improve Now" actions help developers quantify the progress that can be made by recommended tweaks across all categories. User-defined code patterns allow developers to create their own programming rules against which to benchmark their code.[5]

History

edit

Codacy was launched in 2012.[6] Founded by Jaime Jorge (co-founder and CEO) and João Caxaria (co-founder and CTO).

During the seed round, the company raised $500.000 in November 2013 from Seedcamp, Faber Ventures and Armilar Venture Partners.[7]

February 2014, the first public version was released.[8]

The company then raised another $1.1 million in October 2015 from Henrique De Castro, JOIN Capital, Faber Ventures, Armilar Venture Partners and Caixa Capital.[9]

On August 2017 raises a Series A value of $5.1 million with investments from EQT Ventures, Seedcamp, JOIN Capital, Faber Ventures and Caixa Capital.[10]

July 2018, Codacy launches a new freemium package that focuses on startups and small teams.[11]

Features

edit

Teams

edit

Pushes results as comments in pull requests or as notifications in Slack or Hipchat channels. Also integrates with Continuous Integration tools and unit testing solutions.[13]

Integrations

edit

Codacy integrates with 3rd party tools such as Github, Bitbucket, Jira, Hipchat, Slack, Youtrack and Jenkins.

Codacy also provides integration with enterprise tools such as Atlassian Enterprise, Github Enterprise and Gitlab. [14]
