Guy Matthews is a freelance writer and journalist specialising in telecoms, IT and business issues. As well as producing regular articles for magazines like Capacity [[1]], which deals with wholesale telecoms, and DatacenterDynamics[[2]], which covers data centre issues, Matthews writes for a number of corporate clients including KPMG, Geo and ShoreTel.

One of his areas of specialism is emerging markets for telecoms services around the world. He has written extensively about the impact of the deregulation of telecoms, and the effect of increased competition in markets for communications services, in a number of places such as the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, India, China, the Carribean, Russia and the Baltic republics. He has written in particular about the galvanising effect of new high bandwidth submarine cable systems on regional economies. He is also regularly commissioned to cover issues like the development of terrestrial optical fibre backbone networks, and fibre connectivity that runs directly into home and businesses, replacing old copper connections.

He lives and works in Cricklewood in North West London.
