Over the years I have tried hard to help make Wikipedia more useful and accessible, only to have most of my contributions reverted by the snobby academics who run this place (FWIW those contributions were not under this user name).
My "favorite" was where one contribution was removed by a cretin who said "I know nothing about this subject, but after a quick scan of Google I think this is wrong". Needless to say, the subject was one in which I have a lifetime of experience as a professional engineer.
