User:Gryllida/draft/under-review

This tool may be used — at your own risk — to review articles. It has been created because of these reasons:

  • The default afc script(s) don't let me do thorough review very easily ('custom reason' isn't the default reason).
  • The default afc script(s) don't use talk pages (which are a pretty collaboration medium for folks to ask questions about my review).
  • The default afc script(s) don't let me provide the author with a personal thanks or a personal nudge on his/her talk page at all.

This tool appears to have these two advantages:

  • It's wonderfully integrated into editing content in the same edit.
  • And most of all, it isn't hard to use at all and does everything very smoothly.

To use it as a template:

  1. Open source edit box for the draft.
  2. Figure out who submitted it. It's a u= param from an afc template which doesn't have decliner= defined.
  3. Add {{User:Gryllida/draft/under-review|Nick of submitter}} to the draft top.
  4. Edit article as desired. When in preview, you'll see a box, similar to the one you see below: it provides links to open up the relevant textboxes where you leave a review comment (on draft talk page) and a author comment (on his/her talk page). Preloaded "templates" and "edit intros" (ones that contain canned responses) are available for convenience.
  5. Follow instructions provided by the box.
  6. Don't forget to remove the template when saving the draft.

It may also be included into an edit notice, but I'm not sure how to tell whom to leave the message to. I could use LASTREVISIONUSER, but that'd not be nice (as some people may edit the draft after submission).
