Blair, Sheila S.. “Metalwares.” In Islamic Inscriptions, 110-121. New York: New York University Press, 1998. [1]
- In this section of Bloom’s book Islamic Inscription, Bloom describes various attributes of inscriptions in metalwork such as epithets, names, signatures and Animated or zoomorphic script. This source views the Bobrinsky bucket primarily through the lens of its inscriptions, rather than viewing it as metalwork or a piece of art in general; Further, Bloom offers key background on zoomorphic and human-headed scripts, which the Bobrinsky Bucket displays.
Blair, Sheila S.. “Perfuming the Air: A Rosewater Sprinkler from Herat.” In Text and Image in Medieval Persian Art, 78-83. Edinburgh: Edinburgh University Press, 2014. Accessed April 7, 2024. ProQuest Ebook Central.[2]
- A comprehensive overview of the Bobrinsky Bucket ranging from detailed descriptions of the inlaid decorations, the lineage of the bucket and the inscriptions on the buckets. This is a particularly good source for assessing the function of the bucket; because this is a slightly more recent source, Blair is able to synthesize previous scholarship on the bucket and its function.
Ward, Rachel. “The Glittering Surface: 1100-1300.” In Islamic Metalwork, 72-79. New York: Thames and Hudson Inc, 1993. [3]
- Offers a detailed history of the development of the inlay technique during this time. Moreover, Ward describes the process of inlaying usually bronze with Copper and Silver. Because the Bobrinsky Bucket is one of the most prominent examples of the Inlay technique on metalwork, this is highly relevant to our research on the Bobrinsky bucket.

Outline of proposed changes
editClick on the edit button to draft your outline.
Now that you have compiled a bibliography, it's time to plan out how you'll improve your assigned article.
In this section, write up a concise outline of how the sources you've identified will add relevant information to your chosen article. Be sure to discuss what content gap your additions tackle and how these additions will improve the article's quality. Consider other changes you'll make to the article, including possible deletions of irrelevant, outdated, or incorrect information, restructuring of the article to improve its readability or any other change you plan on making. This is your chance to really think about how your proposed additions will improve your chosen article and to vet your sources even further. Note: This is not a draft. This is an outline/plan where you can think about how the sources you've identified will fill in a content gap. |
