First and foremost: I am of the generation which has become used to Microsoft fixing most of our typos for us. As such, I often make daft erorrs when writing on wikipedia. Thank you in advance to anybody who tidies up after me. I wait for the day when wiki programmers stop wasting time on security and what-not and install a damn spellchecker.
So about me. In real life, I am your typical uni student, juggling work, essays, exams and beer. I'm a lurker here on wikipedia - which is unusual, because normally I am right in the thick of things. But something about this place holds me back - the Big Brother is watching aspect, one supposes. Everything I do is recorded forever. Spooky stuff. Anyway, I digress.
I generally spend time here procrastinating, reading articles which I will have absolutely no use for in the future (wiki is absolutely shocking for providing future quiz night answers). I have absolutely no interest in fighting vandals, for me it seems to be a pointless exercise. The time will soon come when the pros of 'account only' English wikipedia outweighs the cons. Probably a few years away yet, but one imagines it is inevitable. Trivial fact: I'm currently watchlisting 22 pages or so (for some reason I am watch-listing "Spoonman" - I have absolutely no idea why, given I have not listened to the show in about a year. No idea why I watch-listed it to start with either. Strange times.)
I check out FA's from time to time, and float about general Australian articles, tidying them up. One day I'll meet somebody who is eager to respond to my article talk page ramblings, but until then I shall remain the faithful lurker...
I'm not a big fan of wiki-linking every second word on my userpage, under the assumption you don't want to click every second word... but, if you would like to know the encyclopaedic meaning of a word mentioned thus far, please use this feature. Thanks.
Why am I writing this on a Saturday night? Because I have a 2400 word essay due Monday, that I've written, ooh, 300 700 words of. Why else? Last minute rushing is the only way to go, anybody who says otherwise is wrong.
And hey, if anybody has actually read all this, do drop me a line. Would be nice to know it wasn't a complete waste of time. :)
