I would follow up with additional and more specific details of the incident and the consequences of the case. Additionally, I would also take note on the accuracy on the dates and the times of the incident and it is one of the most important aspect in the purpose of the article.
If I were the second reader, I would not complicate the article by excluding the unnecessary information and details such as including lengthy details of how the media perceived the incident. I would rather focus on the immediate person involved in the case, the surrounding people and how the case progressed.
