My name is Imani Jonas. I was born in Wichita, Kansas, but I currently reside in Lake Stevens, Washington. I am the brother of four sisters and one brother(for now). I am a senior at Lake Stevens High School, but I am enrolled in running start full time at Everett Community College. I am looking to get my associates degree in nursing and hopefully become a nurse practitioner after many more years of schooling. Usually when I am not studying hard, I enjoy hanging out with friends and making funny videos.

I am a user on Wikipedia to this day, three days, not only because my teacher made me, but because I do a lot of my research on this site. Wikipedia is very informative and because of the internal links, you can find lots of information on stuff you never even thought about searching. Moreover, if I had to pick one thing to write about, it would have to be the Stone Age. I don't know much about The Stone Age, but it seems really intriguing to see where we had to evolve from to get where are in today's age.

Article Evaulation

edit

The article I choose to edit was the Lake Stevens High School page. I've attended and played sports, basketball and basketball, at Lake Stevens for three years now and I have a good knowledge of the school's history. I thought since I attend the school right no I could provide information that might be missing. After visiting the Lake Stevens High School Wikipedia page the three things that caught my attention and I felt worth commenting on was the completeness, the age, and the citations.

Completeness

edit

This page lacked completeness and it stood out at first glance. It gave very few details about the school's history, activities, and sports and school as a whole. In comparison to another high school page in Washington,Rainer Beach High School, where they provide information about academics, student life, demographics, etc. The page should include all of the sports and clubs that Lake Stevens High School offers like: DECA, boy's basketball, girls soccer, etc. and not the a select few, and I think it should also be stated that Lake Stevens only offers grades 10-12 because there is also a mid high, Cavelero, in Lake Stevens.

This page provides some information that is up to date, but most of it is not. On top of already not sufficient information, the information that is present is from articles from 2013 or later. In addition to that, the page is missing recent accolades for all of the athletics like the girls volleyball team getting second in the 4A WIAA state tournament this year.[1] For a school that does very well in athletics this section needs to be kept up to date.

Citations

edit

There is no citations on this page and this may be in large part due to there being little information to cite. There is some information where a citation should be present; but there is not. There is a small list of references at the bottom of the page but they are no where cited in the page itself. This makes it difficult to tell whether the information presented is reliable or not and makes the references see random. Also there are some dead/useless links throughout the page that should be removed.

Summary

edit

In conclusion, the page is below average at best and need some serious updating done to it. The page is very incomplete. It does not give a viewer who is interested in learning about the school enough information to let them leave with a good knowledge of the school and its history. Almost all of the sections have insufficient information but the "Sports, Athletics, and Clubs" section is not only doesn't have a sufficent amount of information, but is also missing key sports and clubs that the school provides. Also there are no citations present at all to back up the facts that are present. All in all I think the Lake Stevens High School Wikipedia page needs a lot of work done to it for it to even meet standards.
