Timeline of the foundation of St Peter’s High/Higher Secondary School, Gayaganga


January 1932: With the request of Fr Truyen, young Yacob Beck of Noadih arrived in Gayaganga to begin a long career of teaching generations of young people in the Terai.

January 1933: Fr August Bossaers arrived in Gayaganga from Gholeng. He founded the first Jesuit school in the Terai at Gayaganga Tea Estate. There were then three teachers, Yacob Beck, Lucas and Pascal.

1935: A new school building was constructed. (It was a hut with three rooms)

1941: Raised UP school

1.1.1963:  Presented regular candidates for the School Final Examination for the first time.  Among the first graduates were Fr Telesphore Toppo and Pratap Xess who taught St Peter’s High School and retired on 31.05. 2001.

1989: Beginning of Higher Secondary section [Arts (1989), Commerce (1991), Science (2014)]
