Gerald Kagan (gkagan) was born on 11 July, 1984 to Harris and Gail Kagan in Weymouth, MA. He lived in Kingston, MA with his parents and dog, Hundela, until he was 1 year old, when his family moved to Foxboro so his father could be closer to his job at the Foxboro Company. Gerald spent one year at Crossroads Preschool, followed by two years of kindergarten at the Lewis School in Foxboro. After kindergarten Gerald attended first through third grades at the Taylor Elementary School, fourth through seventh grades at the Ahern middle School, and eighth through twelfth grades at Foxboro High School, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class receiving awards for academic excellence in both science and mathematics. Gerald was accepted via early decision to Brown University, in Providence, RI, where he is currently in his fourth year studying for a Sc.B. in chemistry. He plans on attending graduate school for organic chemistry in order to obtain a Ph.D., after which he plans on working as a synthetic organic chemist in the pharmaceutical field.

At age 4 Gerald was introduced to computers by his father, learning on a machine his father had built from parts. When Gerald was 7 years old, he began Shotokan karate, which he continued until the age of 17, having received the rank of black belt at age 12. During high school, Gerald was actively involved in The Boy Scouts where he received the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 16. At age 18, however, Gerald distanced himself from the Boy Scouts due to an unfavorable reorganization within the local chapter of the group. During his last year of high school, Gerald was an officer “Webmaster” of the Foxboro High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society, though he sharply criticized the group.

Gerald is actively involved with Brown EMS, a volunteer 24/7/365 rescue service out of Brown Health Services as an EMT-Basic. He actively participates in Airsoft, a paintball-like sport using realistic firearm replicas running off electric motors or compressed gases. He is an enthusiastic player and an avid collector of replicas. He also enjoys sporting clay and target shooting with his parents and friends. One of his beloved, though more illicit, hobbies is urban exploration, his favorite sites being various state hospitals.
