I am Jefferson Morgenthaler, a Texas historian and author. Most of my recent work concerns San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country from Spanish days through the Civil War. I am also knowledgeable about La Junta de los Rios and, to a lesser extent, Spanish presidios and missions in general. I only occasionally contribute to WP. If I write a piece for publication elsewhere, I may create a concise version for Wikipedia. I sometimes contribute to the Handbook of Texas Online in the same way.

I am the author of:

The River Has Never Divided Us, a border history of La Junta de los Rios (Univ. Texas Press, 2004).
Promised Land: Solms, Castro and Sam Houston's Colonization Contracts (Texas A&M Univ. Press, 2008).
The German Settlement of the Texas Hill Country (Mockingbird Books, 2007). (Mockingbird is my self-publishing imprint for local histories.)
Boerne, a Brief History (Mockingbird Books, 2nd ed. 2014).
The Pinta Trail in the Texas Hill Country (Mockingbird Books, 2015).

Please be kind to me when I display ignorance of the intricacies of Wikipedia formats, procedures, and protocols. I'm learning.
