I believe it is damaging to Wikipedia if people land on a userspace article that contains content that appears encyclopedic.
Here is a survey/audit of all the "keeps" at WP:MfD in January.
Potentially Damaging Userspace Keeps edit
- Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Britt25/sandbox for CVS/Pharmacy (keep)
- Old version of a mainspace article, untouched for 1year+. Confusing to any unsavvy user that finds it.
- Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:ChanceYoungJr.Robert (keep)
- A redundant fork of Ray Charles
- Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Lady Aleena/Television/Crossovers (keep)
- Unmaintained article fork, that has disconcertingly attracted IP editors doing minor corrections to it! Could they have been confused into thinking it was a real article?

- An essay completely unrelated to wikipedia in any form.
