History

Norsk Metropolitan Klubb's CV-440 was delivered to SAS in 1956, was fitted out in Oslo with 56 seats, and registered SE-BSR. In 1975 the aircraft was sold to Nor-Fly Charter and was registered LN-KLK. In 1984, when Nor-Fly phased out machines with piston engines, the aircraft was sold on to a group of aviation enthusiasts who wanted to preserve a CV-440 in airworthy condition. The Norwegian Metropolitan Club (NMK) was founded in this connection, and NMK operated the machine until 1987, among other things with circular flights with paying audiences as an important source of income to keep the plane in the air. The machine took part in a number of air shows, and was a very popular feature. Not least because, in this period, it was the last flying Convair in Europe with piston engines, which had an operating license to fly with passengers. The operating license for this was granted by the Ministry of Transport via the then Civil Aviation Authority.

However, the costs of maintenance put an end to the club's further operation in the form of operational flying in 1987, and the aircraft was then given as a gift to Sola´s flyhistorisk museum at Stavanger, Sola (Jærmuseet), where it is still on display.while the airline ceased
