I am a student at Marquette University, currently majoring in Physiological Sciences, and minoring in Business Administration and French. I work in a laboratory for Dr. John Mantsch and also in the Animal Resource Center (ARC). I would like to matriculate into a career either in neuroscience research or as a medical doctor.

I grew up in Waukesha Wisconsin, though I have lived in Washington, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Alaska. I enjoy swimming, reading, and watching movies. Some of my favorite movies are Nightcrawler, American Beauty, and Pulp Fiction.

Article Plan edit

For our three sources we have found these articles:

http://www.neuroanatomy.org/2008/017_019.pdf

http://physiologyonline.physiology.org/content/nips/4/2/45.full.pdf

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26903817 (This is the secondary review source).

Layout for article: (Not in any particular order subject to change)

Physiology: What systems in the body are involved with the reflex, the purpose the reflex supplies to homeostasis and/or daily functioning/movement.

Mechanism: (can be divided into two separate categories: Biochemistry, Neurology) Biochemistry mechanisms and how exactly the reflex functions, through what nerves (and what types of nervous systems cells), chemical interactions, receptors, pathways, etc.

Research and Discovery: The methods and means in which neuroscientists discovered and hypothesized about the axon reflex; trials and methods used by other researchers in academic articles to disseminate knowledge about the purpose and mechanism of the axon reflex.

Other Related Mechanisms (Pathophysiology): Itching, Inflammation

Related Conditions/Diseases: Asthma

Splitting up the Work: We will be meeting once or twice a week (Sundays at 6pm and extra days planned via group messaging) and collaborating on the components we want to present in each proposed section of the article. Praveen is responsible for preliminary article headings and outlining of the topics to be covered in the sub-sections of the article. For first week of research, each group member is responsible to read each article and understand the general purpose/mechanism of the axon reflex. All group members will be responsible for collaborating ideas to the Physiology and Mechanism sections of the article. Each member will propose a potential paragraph, and ideas will be synthesized together during Sunday meetings. One group member will be responsible for each of Asthma, Allergies, Pain/Inflammation, and Itching. Work will be divided according to preference and confidence in ability to strongly explain and communicate ideas about each related condition.
