History

edit

The very first semi-organized group of diecast collectors started in the eighties era at the series of Transhow International Car Shows held at Philcite Exhibition Center in which plastic model show and competition was the main activities. The model kits builders Atty. Frank Kho, Jojo Nicolas, Jep Dy Lim, Willie Malay, Manny Pablo engaged in animated brainstorming session on how and where to get model kits and diecast vehicles. During the monthly meeting conducted by the Scale Modelers Club of the Philippines also known as SMCP the model kits builders got creative and applied their skills and even went to the extent on modifying diecast.

With the demise of SMCP, Miniature Club of the Philippines was born with Atty. Frank Kho, Dodie Ruiz, Noli Dela Paz, Ricky Celis and Dennis Maturan. They continue to show their precious gems by displaying and joining cars and automotive events until toy distributors caught and tapped them to showcase noteworthy models from the manufacturer’s lines that they carried.

In the 90’s Bickford Yee and Uncle Johnny Yao joined Miniature Club of the Philippines. In those days club members only meet during car exhibits until in the late 90’s where the club tied up with with Richwell ( Matchbox and Hotwheels Phil. Collector Society - MHPCS ) and Tomica Club of the Philippines, and began to have a regular once a year swapmeet.

In the year 2000, The Miniature Club of the Philippines was re-born to Diecast Cars Collectors of the Philippines (DCPH).with the initiative of Bickford Yee and after seeking advice with the former miniature club of the Philippines members Atty. Frank Kho and Mr. Dondie Ruiz and with the help of Mike Mercado, Alejandro Dy Juanco Jr., Jing Garcia, Jerome Antaran, Erwin Lomibao, and Gerry Sibal.

Nowadays, to build camaraderie among DCPH, swap meets are held every 2 months per year. As the club continue to grow members are now more enthusiast not just to display their collection to different events but extend their hands to a charity institution to help needless children.

DCPH Diva

edit

A lot of people think that diecast car collecting is only a guy thing and it is weird to have a lady collector in the group, but they are completely wrong. DCPH has a ladies division known as DCPH Divas, it was formed in 2008 as a way of recognizing the women who also collect diecast cars. It all started when Rachelle Aquilizan (louck) dream of having a ladies division in the club. It was supported by her fellow lady collectors and members of the club until the dream turn into reality.
