Elijah of Buxton is a historical fiction novel written by award-winning author of young adult fiction, Christopher Paul Curtis. The novel takes place in the Settlement of Buxton in Canada where the Reverend William King, a white Presbyterian minister and a staunch abolitionist, bought a plot of land to offer refuge for freed and runaway slaves.
The title of the book refers to the young adult protagonist of the story, Elijah, who is the first free-born child in Buxton.
