UNIDIS edit

UNIDIS mean "yoU Need ThIS".

The Uni-box is a DVB satellite, cable and terrestrial digital receiver(set-top box). They were distributed widely for use with Pay television channels. It also enables the receiver to store digital copies of DVB MPEG transport streams on networked filesystems. The combination of third-party developers and network connectivity which facilitates card sharing, makes Uni-box use particularly common among enthusiasts and those who intend to obtain services without payment. Third-party software for this purpose is neither officially endorsed nor supported and voids the official warranty; however, unofficial web sites support a very large community of enthusiasts.

Linux on the Uni-box edit

From at beginning of 2011, UNIDIS was about to port the Linux operating system. This is now the most popular choice. In addition to the Linux kernel and drivers, a significant amount of code is needed to allow the Uni-box to function as a digital receiver. The Uni-box has grown in popularity among home hobbyists due to the ability to use softcams to enable it to decrypt channels without the need for the physical access card to be present in the box, or with the use of a pirated key, without any card at all. Originally Uni-box has developed in Korea and sell in Europe, CIS, the Middle East and so on. Enthusiast groups in all over the world have developed localized software versions for the Uni-box.

Unidis Models edit

There have been a number of different models of Unidis box available. The numbers are suffixed with -S for Satellite, -T for Terrestrial and -C for Cable:

Plug-ins edit

There are also many 3rd party plugins available. Plugins such as Weather forecast, YouTube, IRC chhatting are available. In addition, unofficial third-party conditional access software modules (CAMs or emulators) are widely circulated on the Internet that emulate the CA systems developed by NDS (VideoGuard), Irdeto, Conax, Nagravision, Viaccess and other proprietary vendors. Some Uni-box owners use these softcams in conjunction with card sharing software to access pay TV services without a subscription card inserted in every connected box. This practice may be illegal in some jurisdictions and third-party software for this purpose is neither officially endorsed nor supported by UNIDIS and voids the official warranty.
