    About Me

I am Fiston Disala Lemba. My name means the only uncle of the village in the Mbala dialect. I was born and raised in Kinshasa (DR Congo), but I currently live in Washington state. I am a student at Everett Community College. I spent part of my life in South Africa precisely in Cape Town. There I attended the Cape Peninsula University of Technology where I studied Geography Information Systems. My goal is to get a degree in Structural Engineering and work in the United States. Then I planned to get experience so I can invest in infrastructure in my home country. I like to watch soccer, UFC fight and I very much enjoy Congolese music. I am married and the father of two beautiful daughters.

    My Wikipedia Interests

I always use Wikipedia when I do my research about politics, school work, etc. It is highly required for me to use it for my English class. We will do several online assignment on this platform this quarter. I am passionate about African and Congolese politics. In the future, I might utilize Wikipedia to fact-check publications on Congolese politicians or political actors.

Article Evaluation

I visited the article on sports injuries on Wikipedia. While refining my search for an article much suited for this assignment, I selected an article on Greenstick fracture and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: lack of reliable source, completeness, and age.

Lack of reliable source

In the first paragraph, the article outlines that the greenstick fracture draws its name from its similarity to green fresh sticks as they are easily bendable. There is however no reference or reliable source supporting this claim. Furthermore, the article extensively discusses signs and symptoms of this fracture in a long paragraph without outlining any scientific source validating this information, whether external or internal to Wikipedia. And I have noticed that one of the citations that are listed at the bottom in the references is unreliable.

Completeness

The author of the article provides incomplete information regarding the treatment of the Greenstick fracture. I have found several other sources providing more detailed information about the treatment for this specific injury. The article also says that X-rays aren’t required if the fracture is healing properly. Though multiple other sources such as the Mayo clinic’s says that X-rays are required to ensure the bone is regaining its proper alignment.

Age

I have noticed that all the citations on that Wikipedia article are old. The most recent article among them was published in February 2018, although the citations can be as old as they need to be to cover the material.

Conclusion

In sum, I evaluated the article titled “Greenstick fracture” on Wikipedia using three analytical tests which are presence of reliable source, completeness, and age. I believe that considering these questions will produce more information and improve the quality of the article for people who would have a chance to read it.
