Space Ghost is a six-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics in 2005 written by Joe Kelly and penciled by Ariel Olivetti. The covers were illustrated by Alex Ross. It is based on the Space Ghost character from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the same name. The series is a reboot of the character, which is darker than his cartoon counterpart, and his first encounter with the villain Zorak.
Story
editThaddeus Bach is a peacemaker office for the Commandment, an interstellar force. His wife, Elua, is expecting a baby boy. Because of his dedication to the force, he is recommended to the Eidolon Elite, the greatest strike force in the galaxy. His mentor, Temple, asks him to join The Wrath, an unit of The Eidolon that handles the biggest cases. He is relluctant to join, fearing that he may die while working for The Wrath, since no one other than Temple has lasted five cycles on it, but his wife convinces him to join the unit. But in his first mission with The Wrath, he discovers that they are vigilantes who act on their own and sometimes keep whatever goods the criminals might have. Disapproving their methods, he decides to run away with his wife in the middle of the night, but gets knocked off by Temple, who was spying on him while he slept. Chained in a chair, he wokes up being surrounded by The Wrath only to discover that Hammer, one of the members, has murdered his wife and his stillborn son. Enraged by the news, Thaddeus breaks the chains and tries to avenge their deaths, but he is shot in the heart by Temple.
Later on, Temple drops Thaddeus on a desolated planet. The Wrath declares him dead, along with his wife and son, and a funeral is held for them. Meanwhile, Thaddeus sees a vision of his wife and is rescued by an alien named Salomon. After being rescued, Thaddeus
