Federico Pascarella Bmus (hons)
Federico was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina into a family of Italian immigrants. He studied three years at the U.C.A. (Argentine Catholic University) Faculty of music, where he learned Harmony, counterpoint, aural training, solfege and basic piano skills. Since the beginning of his university studies, he took private lessons with the Argentinean composer/arranger Gustavo Hernandez, making five years in total. He also did serious piano studies with the Russian pianist Yuri Kwarmeister for two years. Leaving then the U.C.A. he moved to the Conservatory “Manuel de Falla” where he took orchestration lessons with Eva Lopszyc, harmony (levels 3 and 4) with Rodolfo Daluisio, fugue and Franco-Flemish counterpoint and composition with Eduardo Julio Checchi. A new period started when he moved to Paris in 2002, where he involved with the IRCAM’S activities and workshops at “Cite de la Musique”. In 2003 he moved to London, where he did a Bmus (hons) in Composition at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama been upper second class honours. He trained 3 years with Diana Burrell to end his degree with the Italian Composer Alessandro Timossi. At the same time Federico took the Electronic Music module as second study with Nye Parry. Federico has been going to the IRCAM regularly assisting to its seminars of Max/Msp, OpenMusic, Audiosculpt and FTM objects, with special mention IRCAM’S score follower. His main influence comes from the music of G.Grisey and T.Murail as well as the music of B.Ferneyhough, and H.Lachenmann. Having recently graduated from the GSMD Federico has become very much interested in computer-assisted composition and the use of sensors to control real-time patches designed by him.
