Major

I became a math major in order to become a mathematics professor. I also love science, particularly chemistry.

Hobbies

I really enjoy reading (usually fiction, poetry, or philosophy). I also like to write short stories and screenplays. I write a lot about social justice issues and stories based on unique (usually ridiculous and awkward) friendships.

Places

Since I lived in Montana for two years, we got to go to Yellowstone National Park for one vacation. It was really quite a sight to see Ol' Faithful and wild bison stopping traffic on the road. I also just love the Oregon Coast and its miles of tidal pools and shoreline to explore.

Things I enjoy

I love getting to work with people that

• care about the subject they're working on,
• communicate what they need, and
• are detail-orientated.

I tend to be pretty relaxed and understanding as long as I know the context about why something is happening. Spreading around the work fairly and efficiently makes me feel really well-supported and enthusiastic to work as a team.

Pet Peeves

I have a really hard time when

• I don't know what's going on,
• someone makes a lot of sloppy mistakes, and
• I feel like someone doesn't care.

I would rather ask someone to tell me if something is wrong than have them leave me in the dark, unsure of what's happening. As long as there's communication and effort coming from everyone, I'm willing to put my all into a project.

Madagascar Whaling

Whaling is difficult on the eastern coast of Madagascar. This is due to the persistent rain. There is a storm almost every day, and they can often last for a full week without stopping. The cold weather makes it hard to keep ships dry, making living quarters and conditions uncomfortable.
