My name is Mohammad Hassan Falakmasir (محمد حسن فلک‌مسير). I am a PhD student at the Intelligent System Program, University of Pittsburgh. My Bachelor's studies were mainly about computer software engineering and my thesis was focused on e-learning software platforms. During my Master's studies I focused on Data Mining concepts and their application in educational systems (The new field of Educational Data Mining). I am also interested in:

  • Cognitive Sciences and Intelligent Tutoring Systems
  • The application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the field of Educatoin
  • Web 2.0, Adaptive Educational Hypermedia, Adaptive Web
  • Social Networks, Social Web, the Application of Social Computing in Web-based Education
  • Student Modeling, Knowledge Modeling, Educational Recommendatin Systems

Since the beginning of my college studies, I was participated in several teams as deveoper, designer and project manager, to develop small and medium size applications. I am also proficient in developing interactive, multimedia courseware using Adobe Flash® Platform and other course authoring tools. Recently, I have focused on providing universities and educational institutes with e-learning platforms using open source and commercial systems such as Moodle, Atutor, WebCT®, and Adobe Connect®. In addition, I expand the features of e-learning platforms by using Data Mining, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence Solutions, providing educational technologists and managers with advanced tools to monitor students and control the process of online teaching and learning.
