the word ASUDEM is used and coined by daryush shokof for a sculpture in 1990 which he exhibited in gallery schulze in Cologne , Germany. shokof wrote a film script based upon that art work and later made the movie ASUDEM in Berlin, Germany in 2007.
STORY
asudem is about a lonely woman who lives with her dog in the woods. like all other films by shokof the location is never clear other than it is some where on this planet. there is a war time which we never see, but only hear the sounds of the bombs and planes throughout the picture. the woman (played excellently by Yangzm Brauen)goes through a nightmare this whole one day as terrible things happen to her. the first victim of the day is her beloved dog, and then amazing detectives appear to give her a solution to face death comfortably, and soon after the vampire pops up, and.......until the Satan himself finally appears to take her out to the woods for the kill. She thinks of giving Satan Hallucinating mushrooms in the hope that he would get Heavenly dreams and die from them.....
the whole film is shot using a single light source that is used in a revolutionary manner with Yangzom Brauen holding it and lighting much of the film,s scene with it throughout the picture. the results are stunning in balck and white.
Award the film won the best Horror film award at the International Film and Video Festival in Los Angeles in 2007
