FANCAM, a South African-based company, was born in 2010 when founders (and best friends) Tinus le Roux, Schalk van der Merwe and James Taylor took their idea of Virtual Africa (a previous virtual tours business) to a packed Newlands Stadium during a Super Rugby match in Cape town. From there the unique concept of post-event fan engagement spread like wildfire and soon FANCAM did business over 6 continents with clients such as the NFL, Red Bull, UEFA, Coca Cola, HSBC Sevens, AFL, RWC, ICC, Mc Donalds and many more. a FANCAM is a 360-degree interactive image that consists of 20 thousand megapixels. Captured at major events around the globe, event attendees (or non-attendees) can view this image in immense quality and zoom in to face level detail. [2]
