The first edit on the page 'Birds of Australia' was a very broad review of bird life on the Australian continent. The editor 'Tannin', uses an initial comparison to show the size disparity of birds in Australia which is useful in an Encyclopedia article. Tannin then proceeds to discuss links with Northern Hemisphere bird species whilst stating that a visitor would recognize many species. This statement is mostly superfluous and I would have altered it to relate more quickly to the concept of convergent evolution which is discussed later. Tannin follows this discussion with a strange tangent that discusses convergent evolution and the similarities of Northern and Southern Hemisphere birds without any real organisation. I would have organised this information so that the majority of the specific genetic discussion was placed in a later section where it could be compared with different perspectives on the topic and presented alongside further evidence. Tannin continues this point by listing a variety of Australian birds and categorizing these birds into four main categories, all of which is done in an open format without any proper headings or organised layout. Essentially I would have organised this page more generally whilst classifying further information on birds and a list of birds species in separate sections. I also would have done a fair amount of additional research on general classifications for Australian bird species before making this initial edit. All of this said, the first edit was made over 15 years ago and probably did not benefit from as many informational tools as we now have available.
