Eunice speaking at a Singapore government feedback session on May 9 2012.

Eunice Nah was involved in the landmark April 2010 85-dog Dogmill Rescue from Pasir Ris Dogmill Farm where dogs were found to be emaciated, tick-infested with tick fever and severely ill. It was the first time Singapore had an insight into the abuse and maltreatment of breeding dogs hidden behind closed doors in puppy mill farms in Singapore. This landmark rescue was performed by a random ad hoc group of volunteers, "Dogmill Rehomers" who answered the call for help by Mr Derrick Tan a popular dog rescuer in Singapore. Eunice sat in the Phase 2 Leadership Team that effectively saw the dogs rehabilitated and rehomed by Dec 2010.

Moved by the hopeless situation for the remaining exploited, suffering dogs at other dogmills all over Singapore, the Agency for Animal Welfare Ltd (AAW) was set-up in February 2012 with some of the core Dogmill Rehomers team members to try to lobby for changes to the welfare of breeding dogs at breeding dogmills in Singapore. The key community focus of the Agency for Animal Welfare is in resolving pet-related disputes between community neighbours living in public HDB apartments that almost always results in eviction of the pet. As a result of unresolved complaints, most pet-keepers end up either abandoning their pets, surrendering pets to the authorities who may euthanise the dog or rehome them. The final thrust of AAW is Community Engagement for unregistered but active animal rescuers as well as non pet-keeping members of the Singapore public via benefit creation, corporate tie-ups and infrastruture creation.

The Agency for Animal Welfare (AAW) will be launching a "Kind Neighbours - Happy Pets" programme in January 2013 to help Singapore communities (that have the blessing of their Members of Parliament) to mediate and counsel in community disputes pertaining to pet-keeping complaints by neighbours. This is in hope to promote greater community harmony, create dog behaviour awareness in communities that do not understand dogs (and fear them) and lend assistance to educate pet-keepers who are ignorant of good companion pet code of practice (CORB) before pets have to be traumatically removed from their companion families due to warranted or unwarranted complaints. AAW will be actively recruiting volunteers to help and hope to find funding to hire mature workers to help mediate, educate and counsel in the communities.

Eunice Nah is now leading as the volunteer Chief Advocate of Agency for Animal Welfare (AAW). Her vision is to "Transform Communities for Pet Welfare" in Singapore and beyond through Grace, Engagement & Charter. ("Chief Advocate" is the equivalent role of President or Executive Director)
