Emily Gibson is an archivist with experience in museum, nonprofit, corporate and academic archives. While she has embraced computers and the World Wide Web, she is a newcomer and is constantly striving to catch up on the years of innovation she missed while keeping up with new innovations, or the "constant beta." She created a Wikipedia account in order to add archival information to Wikipedia's treasure trove. She hopes archives and Wikipedia can have a harmonious relationship as both cultures seek to maintain neutrality and objectivity while creating a representative record of the world's knowledge. She believes archives need Wikipedia because Wikipedia is the ultimate access point to information and Wikipedia needs archives because archives are the most authoritative source of literate information in the world as they hold the world's primary source data. She seeks to become a rule abiding member of the Wikipedia culture in order to facilitate this harmonious relationship between archives and Wikipedia. She welcomes feedback, instruction and advice and hopes you will have forbearance with her as she "learns the ropes."
