It is concentrated on the history of structure at this area more than the growth fault itself. He should give more information in the structural definition and background of his case study. In my page, I will talk more about the mechanics, evolution and structure of the growth faults and how it helps in the subsidence on the continental shelf and passive margins. The written part is well organized but the visual part is not well elaborated. He needs more figures to visualize his illustrations.

The information that he introduced is very limited. He needs to elaborate more in both written and visual parts. I think the figure is not original. More information and more original figures are needed to clarify his topic.

He talked about the stages by which the mature oceanic lithosphere is formd (rift, rift-drift and sea floor spreading). I will introduce my topic in a different way. Growth faults will be my primary topic that control the position, thickness and lateral extension of different sedimentary layers.


My topic is “Growth faults and passive margin subsidence”

In my topic I will introduce a detailed definition of growth faults: How they were formed and what trends they take. Also, I will illustrate the forces that reactivate these faults in the geologic time scale (I mean in the scale in millions years). I will show the effect of these faults on the sedimentary sequences right above it. This topic is of a good value to the wide audience because it illustrates an essential cause of passive marine subsidence along with sediment compaction which governs the relative sea level changes locally along the growth faults. Also it account for lateral thickness variation of sedimentary sequences across these faults. It creates a lot of oil and gas structural traps that prevent these fluids from escaping. So, It is significant to oil and gas industry. It governs the geometry of the new added sequences and controls the accommodation space left for the new sediment supply. So, it is useful for stratigraphers and sedimentologists.

This is the overall structure of my page.
