I am Tim Marsh, and the owner of the Wikimedia account 'eltimbalino'. I have created this page because I am concerned with the ability Wikipedia has to manage conflict of interest while maintaining its no harassment policy. I believe that user accounts could voluntarily contain links to external sources that help verify their identity. I would like to see this then used to add confidence to other people's assessment of possible conflicts of interest.
I would like to see Wikipedia provide a tool for validating external identity sources such as sending a random value to temporarily place in the external account profile, and then visually marking the link to that account after automated verification.
