- 88 Imperial Japanese naval aircraft consisting of 34 torpedo aircraft, 51 level bombers and 3 scouting aircraft attack the Force Z fleet of the Royal Navy and sink the battleship HMS Prince of Wales as well as the battlecruiser HMS Repulse.
