SUMMARY OF SLEEP: An average awake human brain generates alpha waves (10 cycles/sec), and an alert person's brain generates a beta waves (approximately 20 cycle/sec). During sleep however, these waves cease to function. The brain then generates two slower waves called the delta waves and the theta waves. Theta waves ranges from 3.5-7 cycle/sec is considered light sleep. Delta waves ranges less than 3.5 cycle/sec are produced during deep sleep.
